Bone Health in Children
Assessment of conditions that may affect bone development and bone health.
General Information
Childhood and adolescence are crucial periods for bone growth and bone mass formation. Adequate nutrition, calcium and vitamin D status, physical activity, and hormonal health can all influence bone development.
Some conditions affecting bone health may progress without symptoms during childhood. A history of fractures, bone pain, growth problems, or certain chronic illnesses may require evaluation.
The assessment of bone health considers the child's growth, nutrition, physical activity, and, where necessary, laboratory and imaging results.
