Menstrual Irregularities and Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovary Syndrome (PMOS)
Evaluating menstrual irregularities from a hormonal and metabolic perspective to investigate the underlying causes.
General Information
It can take time for the menstrual cycle to become regular during adolescence. However, prolonged irregular periods accompanied by symptoms such as excessive hair growth, acne, or weight gain may necessitate a hormonal and metabolic evaluation.
Menstrual irregularities can have many different causes. The evaluation considers age, pubertal development, menstrual regularity, growth and weight changes, and accompanying hormonal findings.
If necessary, hormone and metabolic tests are performed to investigate the underlying cause, and the follow-up process is planned according to the child's developmental stage.
