General Information
Adolescence is a natural developmental period of accelerated growth and hormonal changes as children transition from childhood to adulthood. This process can begin at different times for boys and girls, and the developmental milestones can vary from person to person.
The earlier or later onset of puberty symptoms than expected may indicate a need for evaluation in terms of growth and development. This evaluation considers not only age but also the sequence of physical findings and the rate of development.
The rapid growth, bone maturation, and hormonal changes during adolescence are evaluated together to monitor the child's developmental process.
